The Cape Cod Chorale is pleased to announce the winner of our 2023 Barbara Knight Memorial Scholarship. Barbara Knight sang with us for many years and served on the chorale board as well. She passed away in 2016 and we are honored to sustain her memory by giving away this annual scholarship. It is awarded to a high school senior from Cape Cod who plans to pursue a college course toward a career in music.

This years’s recipient is Livia Johnson from Falmouth High School. Livia is a highly accomplished trombone player who plays in multiple bands and orchestras. She has served as the Falmouth High School Band historian as well as their librarian. She has been a teaching assistant for fourth graders and junior high students as well as a private trombone tutor. In addition to her musical activities, Livia has volunteered for an animal shelter, the Falmouth Road Race, has been a member of the track team, is a girl scout, and works at a hardware store. Livia’s application essay expressed how grateful she is for the teachers and mentors who have inspired her to do better throughout her musical journey thus far. She in turn wants to nurture the love of music in younger students. She plans to major in music education at UMass Amherst. We congratulate Livia for all of her hard work and wish her the best as she begins the next phase of her future.

Join Us for our Spring Season

By | News & Events | No Comments

We begin for spring on Monday, January 16th,  7-9 pm. (Come a little early to complete registration and get your music.)

The 16th and the 23rd are open rehearsals. Come check us out at one or both!

We will be masking and social distancing. We hope this policy will not last all spring, but to protect the most vulnerable among us during this time of the latest variant (very high rates in Massachusetts) and flu season, as well as other winter respiratory crud (the official medical term), we are agreeing with one another to mask. You must also be vaccinated and bring proof of such.

To the more fun stuff: We are singing Mozart Requiem and Fanny Mendelssohn’s Hiob with full orchestra. We are joining with Choral Art Society of the South Shore to present these magnificent works. Our concerts are May 6 and 7, both at 4 pm. The first concert will be on the Cape and the second on the south shore.

We are going to have a great deal of fun! We come together with Choral Art Society in February or March for a rehearsal and social, and we rehearse together on May 5th on Cape Cod.

For more information, rehearsal schedule, etc. contact alisonsinging@gmail.com.

We work hard and we also have great joy working together!
